Bridging Data Tools

The Federal Interagency Technical Working Group on Race and Ethnicity Standards developed and is making public an initial, basic bridging program for general use on all Federal data used by Federal agencies and public data users. These tools are intended to help Federal agencies estimate and compare race and ethnicity specific statistics over time between those collected under the 2024 and 1997 standards. Agencies are not required to use these tools and may choose to use their own program data to replace or supplement the bridging tools provided here.

Complementary research and development of more robust methodologies are expected to follow, once additional data are collected under the 2024 Statistical Policy Directive No. 15. The bridging programs, user guides, and test data sets will be updated as research continues and will be shared here.
